Welcome to the permanent exhibit at the Cheldzan's gallery. Images on display here will always be here (subject to the very occasional shuffling or addition).
The gallery is arranged by cast of characters in reverse chronological order; thus Kediil, who lived the longest ago in Jokku history, is at the bottom. More information on the ages is available in the Timeline. The Worth of a Shell: Thenet's Age
The main characters of the novel The Worth of a Shell were Thenet, an "ugly" eperu trapped deeply in the cage of its societal mores; and Dlane, the rebel anadi intent on defying everyone's expectations.
Hesa and Pathen are a couple that show up a little after The Worth of a Shell, but before the events of the novel that follows. They get into trouble in decaying Het Kabbanil, stronghold of the empire that competes with Thenet's."Money for Sorrow, Made Joy": Ekanoi's Age
Trade caravans were a staple of Jokku society after towns developed. These caravans were the exclusive province of the eperu, toughest of the three sexes. Ledin was head of one of these, an explorer; Ekanoi, another eperu narrates one of their adventures involving an orphan named Thodi. The full story is here.
Another story, involving Tañel and an outrageous clay-keeper, Ekkuli, is available here."Freedom, Spiced and Drunk": Kediil's Age
Kediil, the rebel anadi of the days when Jokka were still nomads, becomes a recurring character in several stories as she journeys across the plains, using her skills as a lore knower to become a healer. Kediil's first story can be read here, and her second adventure here. The Distant Past, the Far Future and the North
Here I've dropped images from time periods or places I don't have much information on yet: the Age of Mystery, the far future (when the Jokka acquire space travel), and the northern continent, where the kinder climate gives the breeders a longer mind-span.Miscellaneous
In this category are sketches and drawings that are either of no particular character, belong to characters I haven't done enough research on yet, or are out-of-world (intended as humor). Some of these images are available as limited edition matted prints from Prints @ Stardancer.Org.
